** Blog Customising Solved.**

After asking for any idea's concerning how to customise my blog I was given a few idea's but with no success, it still kept freezing, but I did a bit of thinking, no it wasn't a strain on the ol brain :-)   I searched on line and came up with this solution. All I did was to download Mozilla Firefox. I was then able to open up my blog and go to customise-advance and make all the changes that I wanted without it crashing.
I have been back  to try it out again and I had no problem with it.
I hope this will be of some interest to any bloggers that are having this trouble.

** Having Lunch With Waxwings.**

While in the kitchen at lunchtime kept having the odd look out of the kitchen window, watching the birds on the feeders when I saw this bird fly in and land on the small tree in my next door neighbours garden. Straight away I knew what it was because it was perched in such a position that it's crest was showing, and distinctive colour.
I couldn't believe what I was looking at, seeing a Waxwing about 40-50 feet away. With excitement I got the bins to have a better look at it then before I could get the bins up to my eyes, there was even more of them in the tree. I was able to count them without the bins, there was 29 of them. With heart beating a bit faster I had a really good close up of them. They kept flying down into a garden 2 down from me where I know he has some fruit tree's and berry bushes, and they kept flying in to feed then back to the tree. They did this for about 15 minutes, even worse I didn't have the camera out at that time, I was more intersted in watching them.
I went to get it and I did manage to get a few shots of them, very bad ones, but a record a shot anyway.

I then decided to pop down to the neighbours garden to try to get a closer look at them but before I could get out of the door they decided to move on. I am not sure if they are still in the area, but I will keep a eye out for them in case they come back.
I have since been watching on and off for the Waxwings but nothing else to report.
The best of the birds feeding in the garden today is the female Brambling, and 2 male Blackcaps.
Other species seen today feeding in the garden is as follows:
Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Dunnock(2), Robin(2), Great Spotted Woodpecker(m), Collared Dove, Wood Pigeon, Starling, Blackbird.
My "Bird of the Day" is a no brainer, it can only be the **Waxwing**

** Can Anyone Help With Blog Problem.**

Hi.
I am hoping that someone out there in blog land can help me with a problem tht I have. I want to change my blog background colour, writing colour ex cetera and when ever I try my Internet freezes up, and I have to shut down.
I got as far as "Advance" and after the page opened I couldn't get any further, as soon as I changed the Text colour that was it frozen as if it was continually running waiting to load. I have tried to do this for the last 2 days and still I cannot do it.
If there is anyone who has had this problem with their blog then maybe they can assist me as it is doing my head in :-(
You can either leave your advice here or feel free to email me at Kenboybirder@aol.com

** Good Garden Watch.**

A short account of birds seen in garden and tree's at the bottom of garden.
After filling up the feeders this lunch time I did some birding now and again from the kitchen window, I had as usual the regular visitors, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Robin, Dunnock, Blackcap(m), H/Sparrow, Starling, Blackbird, Collared Dove, W/ Pigeon, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting(1m,1f)
I then had a small mixed flock of 9 Redwing and  Fieldfare fly in and rest up on the tree's at the bottom of the garden as per the other day., Then at 15:10 the female Brambling paid me a visit, I haven't  seen it for about a week now, I thought it had moved on but it is still around. I did get a shot of it through the window but as it had been raining lightly all day it hasn't come out very well.

I stayed was watching the birds feeding when they all disappeared, some flew away, some dived into the bushes, I then found out why, a male sparrowhawk had arrived and sat on the seat at the bottom of the garden next to the hanging seed feeder. It made no attempt to catched anything when it arrived or whan it left. Again I took a few pictures of it but not brilliant, but one for the years garden record.

Finally as the light was going I had a large flock of Goldfinch fly in and land on one of the tree's at the bottom of the garden. I took a photo but it is not possible tomake them out, but this is them I recon there is about 36 of them. There was more  but they didn't stay as long a these.

** 7th February. Short Wander Around At Sevenoaks.**

After a bit of shopping and coffee at Sevenoaks we stopped off at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve for a wander around before heading home. I was surprised at just how many people was there. I  didn't really have much time to spend in the hides, so I just popped in had a scan and then moved on.
After talking with some others in the few hides I did go in to I asked if they had seen anything different, but none of them had so I decided to take a couple of shots of a Gadwall that was near and then moved on.
I must be unlucky when I come here as I never manage to see many passerines, but it is a good excuse to come again. I was hoping to see a Treecreeper but no such luck. I did come across one of the friendly Robins that are about.
I took a few pictures of one that came very close see below, although it all happened so quickly I didn't have time to try and get the right setting.

On the way back to the cap park I called in the Willow Hide for another look, but all that was showing was the usual species. There was a male Gadwall that was close to the hide so I took a photo of it just to add another picture to my day's walk, then as I neared the car park a lovely male Siskin made a appearance.

My final stop off was to check out the feeders to see if I might see the Marsh Tit that has been there on and off but it wasn't to be. I did have a close encounter with the Robin that is always in and around the hide. Just as I was packing up the cheeky chappy came and  sat on the ledge right next to me. Next time I will take some food with me. The bird species on and around the feeders was Chaffinch, Robin, Dunnock, L/T/Tit, Great Tit and Blue Tit.

** Waxwing Sighting In Halling.**

I did a bit of birdwatching this morning while drinking my coffee and apart from the usual birds  feeding I had my first male Siskin that I have had for a long time. I did have a female on New Years Day. I thought that it might be a sign that maybe I should go out for a walk even though there was a lot of rain coming down, heavy at times, besides it gave me a excuse to feed the horses.
Nothing special was seen on the way to the river, but scanning the river I found my first Common Sandpiper of the year which pleased me. The other species seen on the river and river banks was as follows: Mallard(7) Lapwing(5)  Redshank(3)  Moorhen(2)  Cormorant(3)  Common Gull(2)  B/H/Gull(11)  L/B/B/Gull(1)  Reed Bunting(1m)  C/Crow(2)  Starling(4).
When I was leaving  to make my way home I heard the distinctive call of Fieldfares, then a mixed flock of Fieldfares and Redwings, about 30-40 passed close by and headed off in the direction of Halling Common.
Then on my way home I was walking over Vicarage Rd bypass bridge and as I neared the Baptist Church I noticed a small flock of birds at the top of the large tree in front of it. I didn't think anything about it, I thought they was probably Starlings because we have a lot around here. but something made me look again, I don't know why, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Waxwings 22 of them. I watched them for 20 minutes and then they flew off in a north westerly  direction.
Now it was one of those occasions when I decided not to take my camera due to the weather, you can imagine how I was feeling.
Once back home I did keep scanning the tree's but no sign.
I have been looking everywhere this year hoping to see some, but I kept missing them. Finally catching up with them is great, but to do it on your own patch is terrific.
Before I list my garden birds seen  I had another another nice surprise, at 3.25pm I had a very small party of Fieldfare and Redwing drop in on the tree's at the bottom of the garden, there wa about 11 in all.
Back to my garden list:
Magpie, Jay, Collared Dove, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird, Starling, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Robin(2), Dunnock(2), Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit(5)

Now for my "Bird Of The Day" Well that it a no brainer, it has to be ** Waxwing.**

** Barming Hawfinches.**

After doing my mum's shopping today I ask Pam if she would mind going to Barming on the way in the hope of possibly seeing the Hawfinches that I have been reading about on Adam's blog http://dittoneastmallingbarming.blogspot.co.uk/. Pam and I arrived at St Margarets Church at about 3pm.
When I arrived there was one other guy there, I went over to where he was standing where we had a nice chat, by the way, nice meeting you Graham. He said that he had been there for quite a while. While we was chatting I saw this bird fly in and it landed near to the top of a tree, it was partially obscured but I  was pretty sure that it was the male Hawfinch, this was at about 3:13pm. I told Graham and he moved along a bit to where it was showing, to confirm it. The Hawfinch stayed in this area for quite a while, and then the second one arrived. Both Graham and myself tried to get a few record shots of one or  both of them, but it was not at all easy, I am afraid that the ones I attempted didn't really amount to much., but at least I saw them, nice not to dip out.
I left Graham at about 3:40pm and went back to the car. When I got in Pam said to me that she was hoping that I was going to turn around and wave when I wasn't too far away from the car. The reason being, we was parked up near the fence just left of the gate and through the windscreen a Treecreeper landed right in front of her on the closest tree, and shortly afterwards a Green Woodpecker flew in and landed on one of the headstones resting there for quite a while, lucky Pam.
I did get a bonus, as we was about to leave a Goldcrest flew in. I didn't get great views of it but I did see it on and off as it moved through the tree.
Below is the best shot I took, seeing as I do not have a photo of one. I wasn't going to post it but what the heck, seeing as I tried I thought I might as well.
